If You Watch a Sinclair Affiliate Station, Your Network Programming Is Safe – We Have A Brief Extension, Too

As you may recall, we are in negotiations with Sinclair Broadcasting. We agreed to a 14-day extension on New Year’s Eve, and that extension has just about expired.

Now, we have agreed to a 24-hour extension (of the extension) because we are still actively negotiating. We are confident that if Sinclair is willing to devote the next two days to talking with us, around the clock if necessary, we can get a deal done in that time. We really don’t want a broadcaster blackout. That’s not good for anybody.

However, tweets are flying thick and fast right now announcing that “Time Warner Cable customers face another blackout.” That’s not entirely the case. In the event that Sinclair pulls it channels, our customer’s televisions will not be all that black: we will be importing all available Big 4 network programming from other network stations.

Our customers won’t miss football, Dancing With the Stars, or any other of their favorite network television programs. Just because we are having trouble with Sinclair doesn’t mean that our customers have to.

And of course, as soon as I have any other news, I’ll post it right here.
