This week, we’re a slightly bigger fish in the flashing, beeping silicon sea here at CES.
As a guest presenter during Samsung’s keynote presentation this afternoon, Glenn demonstrated the new Time Warner Cable app for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab — an app that allowers users to stream live television directly to their tablets … without a set-top box.

It gets better. Starting this year, we will be working with Samsung to give our customers the full navigation experience and access to all of the channels they watch right now on the Samsung Smart TV — also, without a set-top box. We’ll be bringing live subscription TV to our customers using the Advanced Digital Cable Platform. Furthermore, our customers can use Samsung’s Smart TV to access content from any DVR in the entire house.
This is a really big deal for us. It’s a really big deal for Samsung, too. That’s because it’s a big deal for the entire industry. Right now nobody else out there is doing anything like this.
I’ve heard a lot of talk about TV over IP, and this is the first step. This is the beginning of the elimination of the set-top box, a movement towards a world where you can connect anyone’s hardware to the network — or anyone else’s network — and enjoy television the way you like it, simple and easy.

Does this mean that there is no converter needed in the home at all, or does there have to be at least one converter in the home. Is this a MoCA setup in the home (Smart TV)?

I would really like to see a Time Warner Cable app for iPhone/iPod/iPad. Comcast has them that I use when I’m down in Florida and they’re great.

I love how the market is aiming the direction of streaming media. I have tried the X-finity and Time Warner apps, and haven’t been too impressed. They claim to stream live TV, but only within the vicinities of your home. I am a DISH Network consumer/employee, and I have been using their Remote Access app to remotely stream live TV, on demand content, and all my DVR recordings! Nothing else compares!

Is it me or didn’t TWC already release the Ipad app….and at this time there is still no Android/Tab app available?
What way to waste the PR and let Apple steal the thunder (again).

My spouse and i have been cheerful that Albert managed to conclude his inquiry through your ideas he had through your web site. It is now and again perplexing to just always be giving out facts that others might have been selling. So we understand we have got the writer to thank for that. These explanations you have made, the simple site menu, the relationships you can make it easier to instill – it’s all excellent, and it’s assisting our son and the family believe that this theme is thrilling, and that’s really pressing. Thanks for everything!
