Something happened overnight to our broadband customers in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. Road Runner Standard and Turbo customers are waking up to higher speeds.
Internet customers in the Triangle and Wilson areas are getting a speed boost at no additional charge. You don’t have to call in to get the speeds, just unplug your modem for a minute or two and just like that…the higher speeds magically appear.
Time Warner Cable is introducing new ultra-fast Internet speeds today across North Carolina’s Triangle area, including Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, as well as Wilson for its residential and business class customers. Customers now have the option of purchasing or upgrading to Time Warner Cable’s new, faster Wideband Internet or Road Runner Extreme service. In addition, all current Road Runner Broadband and Turbo customers will enjoy substantially increased speeds at no additional cost.
Check out the new speeds:
Turbo RR Internet is now 15 Mbps/1Mbps up from 10 Mbps/512 Kbps
Standard RR Internet jumped to 10 Mbps/1 Mbps from 7 Mbps/384 Kbps
We’ve also launched our new Wideband product with speeds of 50 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for those who have a need for additional speed. So, if you are one of those multi-device families that fights over connectivity like you used to fight over the remote control, Wideband will reduce the hair pulling and name calling. Customers can download files, stream a TV show and upload photos faster than ever before.
In addition to Raleigh, Wideband is available in New York City, Rochester, NY, Southwest Ohio and Charlotte, NC. It’s also being rolled out in the below service areas.
To see if Wideband is available in or coming to your area, visit TimeWarnerCable.com.

Any chance the upgraded speeds for uploads will ever come to NYC as well? Uploading baby pictures is taking a maddeningly long time at 768Kbps…

Isn’t NC where they are being “challenged” by cheaper municipal broadband that TWC had to lobby to get a law passed to stifle the competition? Why doesn’t TWC bump up all their customers to levels that other ISPs provide? My 400kbps up in NYC is a joke compared to FiOS and Optimum Online.

Why can’t you provide a better URL for news on upgraded faster Internet service than your home page. Ever tried to find something on your own web site?

I also wish they had emailed us about this, or sent a postcard. Crazy I find about about this from web browsing…
