You likely heard in the last week or so that we were launching two regional sports networks: Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes.
Last night, at 7PM PST, we debuted both networks!
Time Warner Cable SportsNet debuted with a two-hour live special edition of the network’s signature show “Access SportsNet” that featured Lakers Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard and Steve Nash and Galaxy superstar David Beckham as in-studio guests. This was followed by the world premiere of “Backstage: Lakers,” the network’s weekly behind-the-scenes documentary show, at 9 p.m.
Time Warner Cable Deportes launched at 7 p.m. with a two-hour “Bienvenidos a Time Warner Cable Deportes” live special featuring Beckham, Bryant and Nash as in-studio guests, plus Laker Pau Gasol and Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan. “Somos Lakers, La Biografía” aired at 9 p.m. followed by “Los 16 del Galaxy” at 9:30 p.m., profiling the storied histories of the two teams. “Encuentro Deportivo” premiered at 10 p.m. — the half-hour live, nightly show will update viewers on the day’s most complete sports activity, in Southern California as well as internationally.
Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes can be found in HD on channel 481 and 403, respectively, on Time Warner Cable systems.
Negotiations with other providers to carry the networks are ongoing but have not yet concluded.
