We’re Going To Air the Debates for NYC Comptroller and Mayor


If you’re a NYC political junkie, you’re going to love this: Despite the CBS blackout, we will be airing the New York City comptroller and mayoral debates live on channels 2 and 702 (HD). The comptroller debate will air Thursday, August 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. The GOP mayoral debate will air at 7 p.m. on August 28 and the Democratic runoff debate at 7 p.m. on Sept. 23. Here’s the full release:

New York City, August 21, 2013 – New York City residents will have an opportunity to watch the New York City Comptroller debate live on August 22. Time Warner Cable will air the debate on Channels 2 and 702 (in HD) from 7 to 8 p.m. New York City customers can also watch the debate on CUNY TV Channel 75.

“We’re pleased to provide New Yorkers the chance to catch the New York City Comptroller debate on Channels 2 and 702 despite the CBS blackout,” said Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable’s Chairman and CEO. “Customers will be able to tune in and listen to the important topics the Comptroller candidates will discuss about New York City’s financial future.”

In addition, Time Warner Cable will air the Republican Mayoral debate on Wednesday, August 28, at 7 p.m. and the Democratic Mayoral Runoff debate on Monday, September 23, at 7 p.m., both on Channels 2 and 702.

    I see that your competition Verizon Fios just signed a new deal with CBS that included VOD. Why don’t you sign the same deal that was offered to you. If CBS does not come back within a couple of weeks I will go to FIOS so I can see 10 of my favorite shows in the fall.

    Happy 3rd week-iversary without CBS! TWC: Television without CBS. TWC, is this negotiation going to take 9 years like with NFL Network?
