Recently the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), presented TWC with two awards recognizing the company’s commitment and support of employees who are current or former members the Guard and Reserve. In a ceremony overlooking New York’s Central Park, Colonel (Ret.) Mary Westmoreland congratulated TWC for winning the department’s “Above and Beyond” and the “Pro Patria” awards.
Alan Lui, SVP of Human Resources, and a U.S. Air Force veteran, accepted the two awards on TWC’s behalf. Peter Galasinao, a Navy veteran, Dominic Morelli from the Army National Guard, and Matthew Canning an ESGR staff member, and current active member of the Army National Guard, represented the DOD at the ceremony. Also attending from TWC were Jerrell Moore, VP of Diversity and Inclusion; Rahman Khan, Director of Diversity and Inclusion; Ed Diamantis, Manager of Field Readiness Testing, who is also chairman of the local employee veterans network and an Army veteran; and Anthony Lambert, Community Solutions Account Executive, who is a USMC veteran. In an emotional moment during the presentation of the Above and Beyond Award, given for “providing Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits,” Jerrell Moore pinned the special ESGR Patriot pin over Lui’s heart.
Lui also proudly accepted the “Pro Patria Award.” Before presenting Lui with the statue, Col. Westmoreland said: “Pro Patria is defined as meaning ‘For One’s Country’ in Latin. Time Warner Cable’s contribution to our Nation is the care and well being environment it fosters for its employees across the Corporation – for our Guard and Reserve members.”
Following the awards presentation, Lui addressed the audience and said, “We’re proud to create an environment that supports vets, men, and women in the Guard and Reserve…[and TWC is] proud to have a representation of vets, Guard, and Reserve of over 8 percent [in its employee base], 30 percent more than the national average.”
